The project
The owners of the Pelham Centre approached Amelio Energy on recommendation from JH Walter in Lincoln. They were keen to establish whether investing in Solar PV would be worthwhile as part of their overall investment in this building in central Lincoln.
He was also keen to use the solar electricity to help keep service charges down to the benefit of his tenants. This was achieved by connecting the Solar Panels to the electricity supply for the common parts of the building.
The costs and financial returns of a solar panel installation were discussed along with issues such as the provisions for maintenance, the potential dust and dirt from the adjoining road and shading issues from the telecoms masts on the roof.
A 30kWp system was installed using high quality PV panels from LG Solar incorporating SolarEdge optimisers to maximise production. Care was taken to protect the roof covering and to work around the plant on the roof.
The installation has a full web portal monitoring facility so that its possible for the business owner and their managing agents to check that the system is working properly.
