We were successful in winning a tender to install Solar PV across all of the Northern sites of a well-established Multi Academy Trust in the UK. The schools were situated across Sheffield, Birmingham and Manchester. We were awarded the tender in June of 2023, and with great teamwork, we managed to commence the programme just 2 months later; having gained DNO consents, procured materials and scheduled the works amongst the very busy summer holiday calendar we had booked already.
We were faced with a number of challenges along the way; for example, roof types we initially thought we couldn’t fit to and schools with high-risk pupils that meant even working during the holidays would be difficult, but the knowledge from our highly-experienced surveyors and the relationships we built with the Trust’s fantastic Regional Estates Partners meant that these obstacles were overcome swiftly, and we managed to complete the programme by February 2024.
The installations comprised of 7 secondary and 5 primary academies, with the size of arrays spanning from 32.2kWp to 208.84kWp.
To date, the 12 sites have generated over 265MWh’s of Solar electricity, which will present them with a significant saving.
After receiving their annual savings report, The Trust’s National Director of Capital and Estates said:
This is wonderful feedback for us to receive, and it makes all the hard work that our surveyors, project managers, roofers and electricians put in worthwhile.
